The Rashtriya Indian Military College (RIMC), Dehradun, is one of India's most prestigious military institutions and a renowned feeder institution for the National Defence Academy (NDA) and the Indian Armed Forces.
Established in 1922 as the Prince of Wales Royal Indian Military College, RIMC has a rich legacy of producing distinguished military leaders who have served the nation with honor and excellence.
Located in the scenic Doon Valley, RIMC combines academic excellence, leadership development, discipline, and military values to prepare young cadets for a successful future in the defence services.
Its alumni, proudly known as Rimcollians, have achieved remarkable success and have held some of the highest positions in the Indian Armed Forces, making RIMC one of the most respected military preparatory institutions in the country.
At Shriram Defence Academy, Doghat, we provide expert guidance and comprehensive preparation for RIMC and Sainik School entrance examinations, helping young aspirants take their first step toward a prestigious defence career.
Admission Procedure
Rashtriya Indian Military College (RIMC) admits approximately 25 cadets twice a year. Admissions are granted only to Class VIII.
Candidates applying for admission must be between 11½ and 13 years of age as on 1st January or 1st July of the term in which they seek admission. Applicants should either be studying in Class VII or have successfully passed Class VII from a recognized school at the time of joining.
Application forms are available through the respective State Governments. Selection is conducted through an All India Entrance Examination, held twice annually.
The examination consists of:
• Mathematics – 200 Marks
• English – 125 Marks
• General Knowledge – 75 Marks
Candidates who qualify in the written examination are invited to appear for a Viva-Voce Interview carrying 50 Marks.
Final selection is based on the candidate's overall performance in both the written examination and the interview.

Eligibility Criteria for RIMC- 2026
Educational Qualification: Candidates must be studying in Class VII or have successfully passed Class VII from a recognized school at the time of admission.
Age Requirement: Applicants must be between 11½ and 13 years of age as of 01 January 2026. Candidates should not be younger than 11½ years or have attained 13 years of age on the specified date.
